EVENT DESCRIPTIONS

INDIVIDUAL SPORTS:   Age groups are divided:  50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84; 85-89; 90+.  Age determined as of December 31, 2008. Men and Women compete in separate divisions except where designated.

TEAM SPORTS:  Ages of teams are divided:  50+; 55+; 60+; 65+; 70+ for both Men and Women.  Age determined as of December 31, 2008Age categories for team and doubles events are determined by the age of youngest member except where designated.

All team Entry Roster forms and Team Fees must be paid by team manager/captain. All individual registration forms and fees ($15.00) may be included with Team Roster forms and Team Fees. Team Fees and Individual Fees may be paid with one check/money order.

Partners must be entered together; no separate entries will be accepted. Kerrville Senior Games will not assign partners.


BASKETBALL FREE THROW:  Fee:  $4.00 – Each competitor will be allowed 25 shots from the free-throw line. Final number of shots will be at the discretion of the Event director. The greatest number of baskets eill determine winners in each age category. Ties will be broken by a 3 shot shoot-off. All participants will shoot from the regulation free-throw line except women ages 60+ and men 70+, shoot from 11'. (Measurement from backboard)

BASKETBALL AROUND THE WORLD:  Fee:  $4.00/person Will play with same rules as Texas State Senior Games.

Day & Time:  Friday, April 25, after Basketball Free Throw

BASKETBALL 3-ON-3:  Fee:  $40.00/team – Teams must be of one gender.  Roster limited to nine (9) players.  PLEASE NOTE:  # of fouls limited to THREE (3) individual fouls.  The Event Director will determine whether round robin or double elimination format (according to the number of participants) will be played.  All jerseys must be numbered with no duplicates per team.  All members of each team must attend the pre-tournament players meeting.

BOWLING:   Fee:  $6.00/person per event - Three games will be bowled by each competitor or doubles team.  No handicaps will be used.  High Scratch Series will determine the place winners in each category.  Shoes are available for rent.  Mixed doubles entries limited to 32 teams in each age block (50-64 & 65+).  Partners must be entered together; no separate entries will be accepted. Senior Games will not assign partners.   HELD AT A NON-SMOKING FACILITY.

BRIDGE:  Fee:  $4.00/person – Duplicate:  No separate Men’s and Women’s divisions.  Open pairs duplicate bridge will be played; the three highest scores will be declared winners.  ACBL rules apply.  Rubber:  No separate Men and Women’s divisions.  Progressive contract Rubber Bridge will be played; the three highest scores will be declared winners.  Modified Chicago style scoring.  Partners must be entered together; no separate entries will be accepted. Senior Games will not assign partners.  Both event divisions:  Open & Partners

FORTY-TWO:  Fee:  $4.00/person – The two persons who start as partners will play as such for all games throughout the tournament.  The tournament will be progressive play.  “Nel-o”, “Low Boy”, “Plunge”, or “Seven” will not be played.  No separate Men and Women’s divisions. Partners must be entered together; no separate entries will be accepted. Senior Games will not assign partners.

WALK FOR FITNESS:   Sponsor gifts awarded to entrants that complete this non-competitive two-mile walk.  This is not race walk. Registration will be verified. Registration fee of $15.00 includes Senior Games official t-shirt, walk is free. If official t-shirt NOT desired, fee is only $5.00. Event sponsored by SAS Shoes.

CYCLING:   Fee:  $4.00/event – Races include 5K and 10K.  Time trials for both events.  Only multi-gear bikes with front and rear brakes.  Fixed gear bikes are not permitted.  Safety equipment is required.

GOLF:  Fee:  $11.00 – 18 hole game.  U.S.G.A. rules will apply except as noted on scorecard.  Shotgun start.  No handicaps.  Local membership rules apply.

HORSESHOES:  Fee:  $4.00/person – NEW DAY - Singles only with Men and Women’s divisions.  First round is Single Elimination.  Top 4 go to Medal round.  A game consists of 21 points.  Each game allowed 30 pitches per player.  Scoring will be:  Three (3) points for ringer; two (2) points for leaner; and one (1) point for a lie closer than the opponent’s within six inches of the post (the width of the horseshoe).  The highest number of points will determine the place winners in each category.  Horseshoes provided.

WASHERS:  Fee:  $4.00/person – NEW DAY – Singles only with Men and Women’s divisions.  Age groups 50-64 and 65+.  Single cup per end format.  A game consists of 21 points. Single elimination.  Each game allowed 30 pitches per player.  Scoring will be:  three (3) points for in a cup; two (2) points for a leaner; and one (1) point for a lie closer than the opponent’s within the box.  The highest number of points within the 30 pitches will determine winner in each category.  Washers provided.

RAQUETBALL:  Fee:  $9.00/person – Individual competition.  Matches are 2 games to 15 points with a tiebreaker, if necessary, to 11 points.  A.A.R.A. rules will apply.  Eye guards are mandatory.  Play will be Round Robin by Age Group.  In the event of a large number of entrants, play will be double elimination, or if needed, single elimination.  If there are an insufficient number of entrants in any one age group, age groups may be combined to afford play.  Competition medals will be by age group only.

VOLLEYBALL:  Fee:  $55.00/team – U.S. Volleyball Association rules apply.  Rosters limited to fifteen (15) players; six (6) players maximum on the court at a time.  Best of three (3) game matches, games to 25 cap of 30.  Double round robin format. Teams must be of one gender.  All jerseys must be numbered with no duplicates per team.

SWIMMING:  Fee:  $4.00/event – AAU rules will govern all swimming competition.  TSGSC reserves the right to modify rules.  NO DIVING STARTS.  A second false start results in disqualification.  If there are fewer than six competitors in any one age group, games officials reserve the right to combine age groups.  Events include:  Freestyle – 50M, 100M; Backstroke – 50M, 100M; Breaststroke – 50M, 100M; Individual Medley – 100M, 200M.

Partners must be entered together; no separate entries will be accepted. Senior Games will not assign partners.

5K ROAD (FOOT) RACE:   Fee:  $4.00 – Circular route is 3.1 miles on black top park road.  Water station at start/finish area.

TRACK AND FIELD:  Fee:  $4.00/event – Field Events:  Athletes will have 1 ½ hours from posted time to complete each event.  4 throws each for throwing events; 3 jumps each for jumping events.  Pole Vault:  An athlete must submit verification of having met the NSGA minimum performances standard of pole vault in any USA Track & Field administered competition between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2007.  Track Events:  Heats by age group in all events.  If there are fewer than eight competitors in any one age group, game officials reserve the right to combine age groups.  One false start results in disqualification.  Maximum spike length Ό”.  Starting blocks optional, available on request for 50M, 100M, 200M and 400M.  Stay in lane all the way, except 800M (two laps, do not cut in after the first turn) and 1500M (three laps and 300 meters on track).  Place determined by time.  All races final.

RACEWALK (Qualifying): NEW EVENT - Fee:  $4.00/event – Judges will have a full view of participants, who must use proper racewalking techniques or risk disqualification. One foot must be in contact with the ground at all times and knee must be fully extended with each step. Knees must be visible. Racewalk rules meeting at 8:00 a.m.
